What is Natural Medicine? (and why should I care?)
Natural medicine can be thought of in many ways. In a way, it could be called the first medicine or traditional yet not conventional thought about healthcare. In essence it is the medicine you may think of as; the old time treatments your grand mother's grandmothers would pull out of their rustic style kitchens and where buy using only the herbs that grew around them to "heal what ales ya". Or it can be thought of as the wisdom of traditional herbal knowledge and the doctrine of signatures practiced by the nomadic tribes of North America. Or the therapeutic modalities of early European bath and nature cure. The Sauna and the Therapeutic Massage often suggested by Hippocrates when he recommended hydrotherapy for his patients dis-ease. Natural medicine as it is practiced today draws from the tribal medicine of the forest and healthcare modalities pulled from our varied past cultures and combines these philosophies with the scientific knowledge of modern medicine. What is a Naturopath?
Naturopathic Doctors (ND's) are trained as primary care physicians in an accredited graduate level institution typically taking four years or longer to complete their studies.
